School Safety & Emergency Preparedness

At Beaverton School District, we believe that every student and staff member deserves to belong, to believe in their potential, and to achieve their goals. A physically and psychologically safe environment is essential to make that vision a reality.

The BSD Public Safety Department plays a vital role in supporting this mission. Grounded in trauma-informed, prevention-focused practices, we are committed to fostering learning environments where every individual feels safe, respected, and empowered. Our work is not just about responding to emergencies—it’s about building strong relationships, reducing harm before it occurs, and creating spaces that promote healing and connection.

Our Public Safety Department oversees campus safety and security programs, behavior safety assessments, and security systems across the district. We also support emergency preparedness, conduct comprehensive background checks, and guide campus supervisors and Youth Services Officers to be proactive partners in care.

Through collaboration, compassion, and consistency, we help ensure that every school day is one where students and staff feel secure, supported, and ready to thrive—because safety underpins all learning.
